simple

Last night at church the speaker told us a great story. The very short version of the story is this, a little girl the age of twelve was sold into prostution by her uncle. Her childhood was torn to shreds. Months go by, she wants to die. A large world-wide christian relief agency rescues the girl. She is now at a "recovery center" somewhere in the Philippeans. She sang this man a song so similiar to that which Mary sings in Matthew. She praises God for his greatness. She humbly declares her unworthyness to be saved. She sings with peace and joy. Her faith is so simple. She doesn't question doctrine, read books by all sorts of authors who's Biblical perceptions are scattered from liberal to conservative. I was so struck when I heard this story. We have complicated things so greatly. Faith like a child Jesus called out as Holy, not the faith of the well educated, the intellect, the social activist- but like a child. To just believe, how sweet is that?
